Landfill Services

The Altamont Landfill is a Subtitle D-approved landfill providing non-hazardous Class II and Class III disposal.

Acceptable Materials

  • Asbestos – Friable/Non-Friable*
  • Auto Shredder Residue
  • Biosolids
  • Construction & Demolition (C&D) Debris
  • Sludge
  • Drum Management – Liquids/Solids **
  • Industrial & Special Waste
  • Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)
  • Yard Waste for Composting

*Asbestos is considered a hazardous waste by the State of California and requires special handling. It comes in two versions:

  • Friable, which is easily pulverized by hand, includes old insulation and some roofing tiles
  • Non-Friable, which cannot be readily crushed, includes old shingles, siding and floor tiles.

Asbestos material should be bagged or boxed for disposal. We accept asbestos from the public Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

** Solidification Drums accepted Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Did You Know?

Altamont accepts Asbestos both friable and non-friable from the public Monday - Thursday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Material should be bagged or boxed for disposal.
