WM EarthCare is a family of landscape products made from Bay Area-sourced and produced, 100% recycled materials. We are closing the loop on materials once destined for landfills and helping businesses and homeowners keep organic materials local and thereby reducing the carbon footprint associated with virgin landscape materials.
Our Homegrown Compost is made from yard trimmings and residential food scraps collected in Alameda and Marin counties. The materials are processed at our Redwood Landfill Composting facility where they are ground and placed into windrows to begin the nearly 17-week composting process. WM EarthCare compost meets the industry standards for excellence, including Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) listing for organic farming, US Composting Council Seal of Testing Assurance (USCC-STA) and the California Department of Food & Agriculture label.
Mulch is made from the clean, untreated lumber sorted at the Construction and Demolition Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and the Public Area MRF at the Davis Street Resource Recovery Complex in San Leandro. At our WM EarthCare facility in Fremont, the wood is coarsely ground to 2 inches, screened and dyed with naturally occurring water-based colorants. The colorant from Amerimulch is safe for use around children and pets and is guaranteed to retain its color for one year.
The WM EarthCare Landscape Center at the Altamont Landfill features compost and an assortment of mulch colors. You may also custom order large quantities as well as soil blends and aggregate.
